Practical Flight Training
Your Drone or Ours
Add as part of your course with us or as stand-alone training.
Our professional practical flight training can be carried out with your drone, or you can use one of our DJI drones, If you do not have suitable insurance, third party liability insurance is included with all our flight training options.
We provide training on multirotor and fixed wing drones, utilising all flight modes available.
Your instructor has over 4,000 unmanned aircraft flying hours over 50 years and is an experienced CAA flight examiner. You will go away armed with the knowledge and confidence to fully explore the capabilities of the drone.
You will be taught everything from the ground up:
Flight planning and site health and safety.
How to set up the drone correctly.
Safety on the ground and in the air.
Normal and emergency flight procedures.
Basic and advanced flight manoeuvres.
Tips & tricks.
Our flight training packages are open to everyone, you don’t need to be enrolled on one of our CAA drone training courses to take advantage of our highly regarded and informative flight training options.
Whether you are new to drones or an experienced remote pilot with many hours, our practical flight training is designed to get you in the air safely, and for you to pass your CAA practical flight assessment.
Practical flight training sessions can be carried out before your CAA GVC practical flight assessment.
Our flight training in preparation for a CAA flight assessment is open to anyone who is training with another CAA training provider. We can train you to CAA standards and in every flight mode (GPS, ATTI/Height Hold & Waypoints).

Flight Training Prerequisites
The person flying requires:
CAA Flyer & Operator ID’s (Operator ID to be on your drone as per CAA requirements).
Insurance (if your drone, insurance must meet EC 785/2004, contact us for insurance assistance).
Flight training at your location requires prior agreement (contact us for flights at your location).
Min 16 years of age.

A2 CofC Course & Flight Training Feedback
As a relatively new drone pilot Spectrum’s A2 CofC course and one-to-one training were just what I needed to build the knowledge and competence I needed to fly safely. The course information was presented in a clear and logical manner in a comfortable classroom environment making for an intense, through relaxed learning experience. The exam was not as challenging as I feared!
The hands-on practical training was ideal. The instructor took me through basic pre-flight preparation, progressing to flying skills and aerial maneuvers providing tips, pointers and demonstrations along the way, some tailored to my particular interest in filmmaking.
The post-course Student Handbook is worth the price of the course on its own! Together with the theory and practical courses the information in this handbook has helped me to approach a major airfield and an RAF base to gain permission to fly safely within their controlled airspace.
