CAA APPROVED

Spectrum Drone Services CAA approved drone operator.

UK CAA approved to operate all classes of drones.

CAA Approved Operator

To be able to operate drones commercially (generally referred to as aerial work or commercial operations) the operator has to be granted permission to do so by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), this is known as an Operational Authorisation. There are many elements to gaining these permissions, they are;

  • Demonstrate a sufficient understanding of aviation theory (airmanship, airspace, aviation law and good flying practice). This is normally demonstrated by successfully completing a CAA recognised ground School.

  • Pass a practical flight assessment (flight test) on the class of drone operated.

  • Develop procedures for conducting the type of flights intended and how the company intends to operate drones as part of its business. This is documented in an Operations Manual.

  • Develop procedures for operating individual drones in normal and emergency situations along with its technical specifications and characteristics. These are listed in the individual drones Systems documentation.

  • Develop procedures for operating in additional environments or areas as required in excess of standard CAA permissions.

Aviation Professionals

The majority of drone operators have little or no previous aviation experience and solely operate multirotor drones by day only, at Spectrum Drone Services were different.

Our chief pilot (and founder of Spectrum Drone Services) is one of the countries most experienced and qualified drone pilots, CAA drone instructors and CAA flight assessors. In addition he is licenced to fly multiple categories of manned aircraft and holds a commercial pilot's licence as well as being a licensed air traffic control Flight Information Service Officer.

Multirotor & Fixed Wing - By Day & Night

With 40 years of experience in operating multiple classes of drones Spectrum Drone Services have been granted additional permissions by the CAA that allow us to operate both fixed wing and multirotor drones for commercial operations by day and night. The ability to operate fixed wing drones by day and multirotor drones 24 hours a day puts Spectrum Drone Services at the forefront for your drone service requirements.

Heavy Lift Drone Operations

Spectrum Drone Services are approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to operate all weight classes of drones. This enhanced capability places us in the top 0.25% of UK drone companies providing our client base with a one stop shop for enhanced drone service delivery.

Only Use Qualified CAA Approved & Insured Companies

Drones are not toys, they are sophisticated, technologically advanced full size aircraft and there are rules and regulations controlling their safe operation.

To ensure you are dealing with an approved operator ask for their credentials and a copy of their CAA Operational Authorisation and insurance.
